What the two areas are like
- Aldea Zamá: residential, with apartments, cafés and restaurants. It sits on the way from town to the hotel zone.
- La Veleta: south of downtown, full of new condos and Airbnbs. Some streets are still unpaved and get potholes after rain.
- Neither is on the sea: you need to cover a few kilometres to reach the beach.
Getting to the beach and town
By scooter you reach town and Aldea Zamá in about 8 minutes, Playa Paraíso in about 12 and the ruins in about 15. Walking is a long haul in the heat, and with taxis you agree a fare every ride.
Scooter or e-bike?
For everyday rides between La Veleta, Aldea Zamá and town, an e-bike is ideal: no fuel and easy to park. If you head to the beach, the cenotes or dirt streets often, a scooter goes further; the Sport Ride 150cc handles unpaved roads better.
Staying for weeks or months
From 25 rental days a 30% discount on the daily rate applies automatically: from $270 MXN a day on a scooter. Pick up at our La Veleta shop (Calle 1 Poniente, between 10 and 12 Sur) or we bring it to your Airbnb; from 3 days, delivery is included.
